The winter season offers a wonderful opportunity to grow a variety of vegetables at home. Although we can easily buy vegetables from the market, growing fresh, organic vegetables in our own garden provides a great peace and satisfaction.

1. Easy to Grow Herbs to in the winter –
If you are a beginner and planning to grow vegetables for the first time, then herbs are one of the best and easiest options for you.

Lists of herbs include:
- Spinach (Palak)
- Coriander (Dhaniya)
- Fenugreek (Methi)
- Amaranth (Chaulai)
- Chives (Green Onion)
- Lettuce
How I grow and my tips to grow herbs at home:

1. Use good quality seeds: I always use the best quality and fresh seeds. So, if you want healthy and bushy herbs, use only good quality seeds.
2. Sow directly in the pot: I use rectangular boat-shaped pots for herbs, and sow seeds directly into the pot.
3. Sunlight: These herbs needs 2 to 3 hours of sunlight to grow.
3. Soil mix: The potting mix should be light and well-draining to ensure proper germination of the seeds.
- Potting mix should also be rich in nutrients to ensure rapid and healthy growth of the herbs.
4. Moisture: Always maintain slight moisture. Avoid overwatering.
5. Trim regularly: Prune spinach regularly to encourage new growth and make it bushier.

Roots vegetables to grow in the winter season
There are some roots vegetables that you can easily grow in your garden, and you do not need any expertise for this.
List of vegetables include:
- Beetroot (Chukandar)
- Radish (Mooli)
- Carrot (Gajar)
- Onion (Pyaj)
- Garlic (Lehsun)
- Turnip (Shalgam)
Expert tip:

- I recommend use 12*18 inch grow bags for root vegetables which should be use – deep and wide.
- Soil should be loose, soft and well-drained.
- Place in a sunny spot, once seedlings grow.
Other vegetables you can grow in the winter season:

- Tomato (Tamatar)
- Cabbage (पत्ता गोभी)
- Cauliflower (फूल गोभी)
- Capsicum (Shimla mirch)
- Chilli (Mirchi)
- Brinjal (Baigan)
- Beans (lubia)
- Peas (Matar)
- Broccoli
Expert tip:

- These vegetables needs good sunlight to produce fruits.
- For beans, tomato, capsicum, and chili – provide support like bamboo sticks.
- Keep in a sunny spot and use well-drain soil.
- Always use organic fertilizer for best results.
- I suggest keeping 4-5 pots or grow bags for each type of vegetables, as one pot will only grow 5-6 vegetables and that will not be enough.
- If you have a limited area than you can grow at least 2 pots or grow bags.
