How to identify Mealybugs? They are small, white-coloured insects, appear like cotton or wax on stems and leaves.
What to do First?
Step 1: Take Immediate Action Act immediately and remove mealybugs from plant.
Step 2: Prune the Plant Always cut off the heavily infected leaves or stems with a pruner.
Step 3: Wash the Plant Wash the plant with fresh water to remove hidden insects.
Step 4: Clean the soil Add a lot of water to the pot so that hidden mealybugs and eggs flushes out.
Organic Treatment for Mealybugs Prepare a natural pest-control spray at home:
Step 1: Take a 2-liter spray bottle
Step 2: Add 2 spoons hand sanitizer (Dettol)
Step 3: Add 2 spoons liquid soap (dishwasher or hand wash)
Step 4: Add 2 spoons water-soluble neem oil
Step 5: Add ½ spoon baking soda (not baking powder)
Step 6: Add ½ spoon Trichoderma powder
Step 7: Fill with water and mix well
Step 8: Spray all over the plant – up, down, front, and back.
Note: Perform this process only in the evening. Repeat this process every 7–10 days until the infestation is completely gone.
