7 Indoor Plants that are Toxic in nature

Not all plants are toxic but there are some common plants which are toxic in nature.

Toxic plants can be found in many homes and gardens.

While they add beauty to our living spaces, they can pose serious health risks if not handled with care.

1. Pothos

Toxicity  The pothos plant contains needle-like calcium oxalate crystals that can be toxic if ingested. 

2. Peace Lily 

Toxicity:  Contains calcium oxalate, which can cause burning and swelling in the mouth, difficulty swallowing, and nausea if ingested.

3. ZZ Plant 

Toxicity  The ZZ plant contains calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause irritation to the skin and eyes. It's mildly toxic to both humans and pets.

4. Snake plant

Toxicity:  The Snake plant contains saponins, which are toxic to pets and can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea if ingested.

5. Syngonium

Toxicity:  Syngonium contains calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause irritation and swelling of the mouth, tongue, and throat if ingested

6. Dieffenbachia  (Dumb Cane) 

Toxicity:  Contains calcium oxalate crystals which can cause mouth irritation, swelling, and difficulty swallowing if ingested.

7. Philodendron 

Toxicity:  Contains calcium oxalate crystals, leading to irritation of the mouth and digestive tract, and in severe cases, difficulty breathing.

It's important to keep these plants out of reach of children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion.
